About Us

Our journey began as a group of local residents, united by a common goal: to preserve the essential services provided by our only Post Office and Shop in Canonbie.

Driven by a love for our village and a steadfast commitment to our neighbours, we formed Canonbie Community Enterprise. We are a group of dedicated individuals working tirelessly to ensure that our community continues to have an accessible shop and services.  We understand the importance of having a local hub where everyone feels welcome and supported.

We have now also taken on the project of buying the local pub, The Cross Keys Hotel which was closed in November 2024, with a view of opening it as a community hub for the whole village.

The challenges we've faced together have only strengthened our resolve.

We are proud of what we've achieved so far and are excited about what the future holds for Canonbie.

Aims and Objectives

CCE has the over-arching objective of taking the Cross Keys Hotel and Canonbie Post Office and Shop into community ownership to ensure the long-term future of the business' which provide essential services to the village and surrounding area. It will be a social enterprise with profits re-invested into the local community.
